Lower Your Bar

(music and lyrics by Brandon Patton)

Rockets

(chorus lyrics by Ryan Marchione)
(melody, other lyrics, and music by Brandon Patton)

Take one vibration
Take another bloody patient
Mama don’t care if you shoot those rockets off
Mama don’t care if you shoot those rockets off
One vibration’s going good
The other bloody murderer’s shootin the hood

Did you know you were born in a blizzard?
Did you hurl your body out of the crib?
Did you know you were a picky eater
Never Dr. Pepper only Mr. Pibb.

Take one vibration
Go ahead, knock your teeth out
Take one vibration
Go ahead, knock your teeth out

Take one vibration
Take another bloody patient
Mama don’t care if you shoot those rockets off
Mama don’t care if you shoot those rockets off
One vibration’s going good
The other bloody murderer’s shootin the hood

Did you know you were born in a blizzard?
Did you hurl your body out of the crib?
Did you know you were a picky eater
Never Dr. Pepper only Mr. Pibb.
Did you know you never spoke in preschool
So the teacher tried to hold you back
Go ahead, knock your teeth out
Go ahead, knock your teeth out

That's all? That's all you have to say?
I'm gonna learn it too cause then I can sing it with you...
Take another patient?
Yeah
Mama don't care if you shoot YOUR rockets off? or THEM rockets?
THEM rockets... I don't know, you're gonna get me confused
Mama don't care if you shoot them rockets off
THOSE rockets

Take one vibration
Take another bloody patient
Mama don’t care if you shoot those rockets off
Mama don’t care if you shoot those rockets off

Caught Off Guard

(lyrics and melody written by Brandon Patton)
(music by Brandon Patton and Rico Marcelli)

The change that I dropped woke your pitbull up
I was reaching for the door when my heart froze up
Did you really have to scare me like that?
I said I didn’t really buy that line when you said
You didn’t mind being alone all of the time, but
Did you really have to scare me like that?

I don’t see the point in running me through tests, and
I doubt you would like it if the tables turned
We’ve caught sight of some possible happiness
You’re not the only one who could get burned

I caught a glimpse when you were caught off guard
I didn’t know that you tried so hard
Did you really have to scare me like that?
I imagine that you’ve learned like so many
That when you show the real you they turn and flee, but
Did you really have to scare me like that?

I don’t see the point in running me through tests
And I doubt you would like it if the tables turned
We’ve caught sight of some possible happiness
You’re not the only one who could get burned

And now I see you by a store downtown
Staring through the window at a wedding gown
You’re not the only one caught off guard
You’re not the only one caught off guard

Point Of No Return

(written by Brandon Patton)

Minutes after taking off
taking off... it was awfully high
The plane began to turn

She flew out west to face the test
face the test... it was awfully high
Will you ever learn?

Once your lead feet leave the Earth,
How much is it worth to keep floating?

Ah…

Dreams of little babies at home
little babies... with their mother close
Dreams of the freedom to roam

You want both, so you
groan and you groan and you
groan and you groan and you
groan and you groan and you
groan and you groan
and you groan
But never make an oath

And we're running out of time
To make up our minds
Where'd these awful deadlines come from?

You were the one I felt safe with
You were the one I felt safe with
You were the one I felt safe with

Ah...

Coelacanth

(music and lyrics by Brandon Patton)

Strapped on air tanks, dove overboard
South of Mozambique, Sodwana bay
Lights were reflecting eyes in the sea
Under an overhang we saw three elusive coelacanths

Made our ascent, so carefully
Bubbles in the blood can blow your mind
Nothing to prove what we had seen
Swore to return back to the scene with a camera

They will never believe us without proof
They will never believe us without proof

Back to the deep, with a camera
South of Mozambique, Sodwana bay
Freckled like white stars in the sky
With armor and eight fins,
I filmed the elusive Coelacanth

But something went wrong, on the way up
Bubbles in the blood can blow your mind
Chris went unconscious in his suit
Dennis swam over to stage a rescue
Rushed him to the surface, where Chris came to, but
Dennis was in trouble and all we could do
Was save his photographs

They will never believe us without proof
They will never believe us without proof

Its got limb-like fins and oily skin
and it births live children and it senses electric
It’s got a hollow notochord instead of a vertebrae,
extending from a hinged head

They will never believe us without proof
They will never believe us without proof

Look Up

(lyrics and melody by Brandon Patton)
(music by Brandon Patton and Chris Harry)

One snowflake came to rest
melted all the bitterness
on my tongue

She'd just turned 20 years
smash the state, right the wrongs
young

She’d make a judgment
another greedy politician
I’d make an observation

We took the world apart
couldn’t put it back together
Through conversation

My snowflake's the prettiest by far
she felt the whole world's struggles, so unjust
Late night coffee, nicotine and tar
she is so full of fire and so righteous
Scoured the earth for cracks and missed the stars
fighting the good fight down in the trenches
I said you mustn’t forget to also look up

Worry. Sleep. Worry more.
Worry. Sleep. Worry more.
Worry. Sleep. Worry more.
Worry. Sleep. Worry more.

She read a book in bed
someone’s sadness beautified
made her cry

Thought about a choice she had to make
think I’ve lost my appetite
Still, couldn't decide

Tongues a hole left from a wisdom tooth
she starts to feel the fear come seeping in
Doom and gloom her thoughts are in a loop
all I could do for her was touch her skin

Look up
Worry. Sleep. Worry more.
Worry. Sleep. Worry more.
Worry. Sleep. Worry more.
Worry. Sleep. Worry more.

Ashes and Stains

(lyrics by Brandon Patton and Stephanie Washburn)
(music by Brandon Patton)

I can't help thinking as I walk through the park
In a year of no flames, only some sparks
That everyone I pass seems afraid of the dark
Safer with the lights of downtown
Safer with the lights of downtown

My bed is so soft that I still can see
An impression where another body used to be
So I'm walking in the park through the moonlit trees
Thinking of you closing the bar down
Closing the bar down

And I'm caught in the rain

Ashes and stains, wet paper bags
Cardboard and broken brown glass
Cut me some slack I'm still getting my nerve back
Here on your stoop, I look the part
So when will my life start to imitate art
Cut me some slack I'm still getting my nerve back

I can't help thinking that the way you tease
Reveals a very deep seated need to please
So help me find my sea legs on these rolling seas
And forget the old habit I just quit

Help me get my feet up each impossible stair...
So I can fall asleep with the smell of your hair
My hope's all busted and in need of repair
And if you had some spare I could use it
I could use it
I could change out of these clothes

Ashes and stains, wet paper bags
cardboard and broken brown glass
Cut me some slack I'm still getting my nerve back
Here on your stoop, I look the part
So when will my life start to imitate art
Cut me some slack I'm still getting my nerve back

You told me once that you were scarred
I know how you feel
I once was so sure, now everything's hard
You just have to wait it out

You don't really love me but i like to pretend
It makes the time feel sweeter til the bittersweet end
Comes sudden and you're muddled and you're back on the mend
Trying to make the whole world adore you
My bed is so soft that I still can see
An impression where another body used to be
So I'm walking though the park. Moonlit trees.
And I'm caught in the rain.

Stilts

(lyrics and melody by Brandon Patton)
(music by Rico Marcelli)

Will you regret it in the morning?
Will you regret it in the morning?

Raise your glasses, I'd like to make a toast
To the beautiful stranger who stayed through our third set
And to the floor we’ll soon sleep on you haven’t offered us yet.

A bold proposition
Free room and board?
What’s in it for me?

That’s classified

Can you keep it quiet? I live above the landlord

I’ll follow orders, just let me inside…

Do you feel low
Do you feel low
Do you feel low
Let me be your stilts

I'm starving. Are you hungry?

I could go for a midnight treat.
What do have that's warm, a little salty, a little sweet?
I don’t know about you but
I like to eat with my hands, get food on my face, and in my teeth
Seat you at your place at the table and crawl underneath

Just be careful
Don’t wake up the others.
Ohmygod, I’m seeing colors…

Do you feel low
Do you feel low
Do you feel low
Let me be your stilts

There's a line in the bathroom
It's on the mirror, if you want more
I just cleaned this morning
We can sit on the floor
Come in, close the door

And just in case one of us loses our poise
Will you regret it in the morning?
Let's let the shower run to cover the noise
Will you regret it in the morning?

Here, make a seal with the curtain, to keep in the water
Lather me up, make the temperature hotter
See I want you to.. mmm...
Like this. Real slow.
I want to get you to let me get you to
Let yourself let go

Do you feel low
Do you fear love
Do you feel low
Let me be your stilts

Do you feel low
Do you fear love
Do you feel low
Let me help you let yourself let go

You Can Stay But No Suki Suki

(lyrics and melody written by Brandon Patton)
(music written by Brandon Patton and Steve Klems)

Something is hiding waiting in caves
Some part of your animal mind
To return to the surface like the old days
It's warmer on the other side

I'm never sure if I will get to love you down
When you invite me over
I know everything is different now
From now on

Nightfall
Swaying trees
I still know the way
I still have the keys
Oh how I need your precious arms around me
Even though I know we said that
Everything would be different now

I lay beside you as you sleep across a rift of white
The dividing line that we decided not to cross tonight but then I
Lose control and touch your skin
You reach for me to pull me in
We're half awake with visions as our
Bodies make their own decisions

Oh how I need
Your precious arms around me
Even though I know we said that
Everything would be
Different between us
From now on

Vampire With a Briefcase

(music and lyrics by Brandon Patton)
(drum programming by Chris Harry)

Maybe you were minding your own business
Then one day you stumble on an opportunity
That somebody else is just gonna milk, if you don't, baby
You’ve got a family to feed

Look out! Look out!
What’s a matter baby? Have you lost your way?
Look out! Look out!
What’s a matter now? Can’t you seize the day?
Look out! Look out!
What’s the matter?
Look out! Look out!

Seems you’re in a tricky situation
Look out! Look out!
But I’m always looking for a deal
Eyes on the prize
Chance of a lifetime
Let’s discuss what we can steal

He opens up a briefcase
Offers you documents to sign
You scratch your head, buying time

Look out! Look out!
What’s a matter baby?Have you lost your way?
Look out! Look out!
What’s a matter now? Can’t you seize the day?
Look out! Look out!
What’s the matter?

It’s a risky business. Are you in or out?
It’s a risky business.
You might have to sell your soul

Beautiful dreamers preach for a world that trades only love
But when they get robbed it’s their fault
For letting the doves guard the bank vault

Look out! Look out!

I Am The Oscillator

(lyrics and melody written by Brandon Patton)
(music by Brandon Patton and Rico Marcelli)

The sun is a reminder
Of mental ebb and flow
A thought that comes in a handy
When caught in an all time low

A wave, a rollercoaster,
a list of old cliches
I reach for shadow comfort
I wait for better days

Some wake and find the answer
Some wake and leave their wives
And hide from the detectives
The rest of their new lives
Sometimes you get a phone call
That someone from your past
Has left behind his troubled mind
Out on the backyard grass

The sun’s on the horizon
My ears are tiny drums
I am the oscillator
I wait until the morning comes
